P – PassionateR – RealisticA – Avant GardistV – VisionaryI – InvestorR – ReliableI am a family orientated person who is PASSIONATE about the social and environmental impact to the community in the Interest of a better tomorrow. This is driven by a RELIABLE and VISIONARY approach that has now developed into a strong interest to become an INVESTOR with a REALISTIC purpose. Growing up in Kenya with an Indian and Italian background has allowed me to create my own path as an AVANT GARDIST in a country, which is in constant development.
What is my mission?
“Do not commit all to one boat.” – Latin Proverb My mission is to carry on my family legacy by having an impact on the present to carve a path towards a better future. With this in mind, I found myself enticed by impact investing. I relate to this particular form of investment as it has been instilled in me to always give something back while following my own purpose. My sentiments for being an Avant Gardist sent me to Poland to train with a very disciplined group of individuals by nature, this has led me to apply this control in my life’s journey. This discipline drives my mission towards being a better person in society every day!
My families Legacy
A role model to the community
As someone who has always looked up to my grandfather, it is so important to share his vision. My grandfather who founded the Sarova Hotels Empire and made his dream a reality, it was his pride to give back to the community. He always used to say, ‘with God’s grace I have been given everything, it is my duty to share it’.
Throughout his childhood my grandfather lived in poverty, his father ran a bicycle shop in the middle of town which provided for the family but was never enough- despite the struggle there was always food on the table and a roof over their heads. This is the main reason that pushed my grandfather to be better every day and subsequently got him a scholarship to study Law in the UK.
After graduating he successfully started practicing law back in Kenya and with the money saved became a philanthropist. His proudest achievement was the Sarova Mara game camp in which he has taken the Masaai tribe as family and has illustrated his giveback through paying for school fees and the development of their community.
In addition to this, he created the Sandy Vohra foundation in remembrance of the passing of my father; who also embraced his father’s accomplishments and was regrettably taken from our family when I was just 11 years old on a trip to expand the Sarova hotels. I feel that this in turn drove me to find ways to be a part of my family legacy of giving back to the community and thus leading to my sentiments towards impact investing.
